Do you know the footprint of your consumption?

Conscious consumerism

All we consume has a footprint and leaves an impact on something or someone. For example there are CO2 emissions, waste and water consumption, potentially chemical pollution, it requires resources and it has a social, economical and environmental impact (just to name a few obvious ones).

Let’s compare the environmental impact of second-hand instead of new clothing…

Just some food for thought.

And thanks to thredUp for allowing to use their graphic and data (thredUps’ 2021 Resale Report).

A few questions you may ask yourself before consuming…

What is the impact when I buy this? Does it help or hurt?
Do I really need it?
What is the CO2 footprint?
Can I reuse something existing?
Must it be new, or would second-hand do?
Is it sustainable, or is there a more sustainable alternative?
Can I avoid waste? (circular products, recyclable, repair)
Are wages fair in along the supply chain?
How transparent is production and sourcing?
